Kentucky became a state of the Union in 1792. Kentucky is not only a place of scenic beauty but also a place of historical importance. Kentucky played an important part in the shaping of the United States. The Kentucky monuments tell the history of some of the state's most famous events and residents. • Abraham Lincoln Birthplace National Historic Site- There were many places which claimed to be the birthplace of America's 16th president, but Hodgenville was declared to be the official birthplace by the federal government in 1910.
• Kentucky Vietnam Veterans Memorial- This piece of art was designed in the form of a sundial and it pays homage to the Kentucky residents who had lost their lives and who went missing during the Vietnam War.
